anything blue would look really hot.

i have a few suggestions:
if you want to show off your texas heritage: http://www.wildties.com/ties/WS223707.html
if you want to prove that you’re an old testament history buff:

ooo…here’s a real conversation starter:

or maybe one that shows the real john we all know and love:

i’m pretty sure any of these will be a big hit. no, really.

I tend to stay away from wearing ties with shirts that have patterns or texture… the safe way to never get into fashion trouble, my man. Pick a new shirt. In fact, pick the tie first.

I’m just throwing out the pale purple (read: lavender) for the record.

well in general i wear shirts with no pattern or those with a pattern i don’t plan on wearing ties or SUITING up. But i liked this shirt and wanted to try out a shirt with a pattern (plus it was dirt cheap on sale) and since i have the good looks and as someone mentioned the ‘huevos’ to pull it off thought i’d give it a go.

Ok, given that you say you’re wearing a black 3-button suit, you could either go with a black tie (especially a newer, thinner one), a black an pink tie (though that would be pretty busy on top of the lightly patterened shirt), or you could go tone-on-tone, with a different (lighter or darker) tone of pink or rose.
The pink shirt would look fabulous with a gray suit and grey tie, btw.

no tie. open collar. add tuft of fake chest hair. voila.
otherwise, don’t be afraid of pattern on pattern.

jamie’s on to something… but don’t forget to wear your large gold chain and “jv” medallion. and a pinky ring. oh, and don’t wear any socks with your dress shoes. do you have a hat? the best part is, you could use this outfit again when you dress up as a pimp for halloween. bingo!
