Reservation for One

JERRY: I don’t understand, I made a reservation, do you have my reservation?
RENTAL CAR AGENT: Yes, we do, unfortunately we ran out of cars.
JERRY: But the reservation keeps the car here. That’s why you have the reservation.
RENTAL CAR AGENT: I know why we have reservations.
JERRY: I don’t think you do. If you did, I’d have a car. See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to *hold* the reservation and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.

In general I detest making reservations, perhaps it’s me just not wanting to be tied down to be somewhere at a specific place and time. But a lot of things these days take reservations like a dinner at a nice restaurant, hotels, flights, rental cars, massage appointments, and hair appointments.

I have a good relationship with my hair stylist, I can usually send her a text and get fit into the schedule on the same day, (good relationships nearly always results in great service). But last week I actually made an appointment, 3 days in advance, and they called  the day before to confirm it. I arrive in time for my appointment and they asked if I could come back in an hour, apparently there was a scheduling snafu as they booked me in for a 15 minute time slot instead of a 30 minute time slot. I had already waited it out at the office for my hair appointment otherwise I would have gone home already, needless to say what little hair i have is looking a bit shaggy and I was sufficiently irritated that they didn’t catch the snafu when they called to confirm it.

ugh.

Got a note today about the use of one of my photographs for a website.

I’m not that happy with the photo, i can do better, now if i just got the camera out and took more pictures i could probably prove that.

It’s been a little over a week since I moved into the condo I bought back in May. It’s been a nice adjustment. I like my place, I like the location.. it’s taking a little getting used to being on my own again. Currently i don’t have a tv and i’m leeching spotty internet at best for the moment. So all in all it’s a quiet place of relaxation and reading. I do feel more lonely at times but that’s a given. I honestly never imagined buying a place here in Nashville but I suppose I had to grow up sometime.

here’s a link to some pics of the new place.

We are all unique, like a snowflake, just like everybody else.

or for the Fight Club version:

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile.

look what i’ve been working on www.naxosdirect.com

For the last seven years i haven’t really gone a day where i was not running an active ecommerce site, as of this past tuesday the hiatus is over.

Take a poke around, if you feel compelled to make a purchase let me know and i’ll hook you up.

Ever had one of those days?

When things just aren’t going right, your head is pounding and at ever turn there is more frustration than anything else. You become very thankful for the small pleasures in life. Like a friend who goes out of their way (buy a domain name,  find an image, code some html and upload it to a webserver) to do something like this Virtual Aspirin.

Thanks Daniel!
